Extension and Challenge
The school employs a specialist teacher to run its Extension and Challenge program. In consultation with class teachers and parents, and taking into account testing, including pyschometric assessments undertaken outside of school by registered psychologists.
The extension and challenge teacher identifies children who are able in any of a variety of areas of talent, including higher order thinking skills. Specific class, small-group, or individually-based programs are implemented to stimulate, challenge and support very able students.
Parents are notified by letter about a child's involvement in each semester program and a Semester report is provided.
Learning Support
A specialist Learning Support teacher is employed and is responsible for supporting students facing particular challenges in their learning, especially in literacy.
Assessmemnts are undertaken on a yearly basis and according to special need and class teachers and parents are consulted. Involvement is according to need and children regularly move out of the group when outcomes have been achieved.
Parents are notified by letter about a child's involvement in each semester program and a Semester report is provided.
