Assessment & Reports

Open communication between home and school is vital. Teachers ensure that parents do not receive any ‘surprises’ about student performance during the year. If there is an issue with a child in learning or behaviour, teachers contact parents so the matter can be discussed and a mutually supportive and focused course of action can be undertaken. Parents are asked to adopt the same policy - if there are any major issues or concerns they are encouraged to contact the teacher to discuss them.
Students are assessed using many methods and on a continual basis throughout the year. Reports are collated and issued at the end of Terms 2 and 4. Student progress is recorded in each of the six Key Learning Areas (see Curriculum section), and comments on general progress and development are included.
Parent teacher interviews are arranged with parents immediately after reports are issued. Parents are encouraged to discuss the report with their child.
