Homework Guidelines

Homework Guidelines
Homework is recognised as a valuable part of schooling and supports the learning at school. It establishes some simple important habits and it enables revision and practice. It also serves to include parents in their child’s learning process .
Homework is an extension of work dealt with in the classroom. homework assignments are planned as part of the teaching/ learning program and as such should be supervised by a parent.
Individual classes may have "class homework rules" and these should be followed to gain maximum benefit from the homework program.
General Guidelines
Homework is set on the four weeknights (none on Friday's or over the weekend). In case of long term projects or assignments, pupils may choose to work over the weekend. Records of children who do not complete homework are kept by the class teacher and parents will be contacted if an inconsistent pattern of homework completion is evident.
At Loquat Valley we recognise the importance of family and leisure activities and believe it is important for children to have free time and experiences outside of school.
The following broad guidelines apply. They do not include time spent reading for pleasure, an important part of every day.
